On October 5, 1995, over 300 people gathered to hear and participate in a public discussion/debate about abortion presented by Philip St. Romain, D.Min., and Rev. George Gardner. At that time, Dr. St. Romain was Director of Family Life Ministry for the Catholic Diocese of Wichita; Rev. Gardner was the Pastor of College Hill United Methodist Church in Wichita, KS.
Moderating the discussion was Reid Ashe, who was Editor-in-Chief of the "Wichita Eagle" newspaper.
The format of the evening featured a short opening statement by Mr. Ashe, then a presentation by Dr. St. Romain, a presentation by Rev. Gardner, interactions between the two presenters, then interactions between the presenters and the audience.
Full presentations by the presenters along with their interactions with each other and the audience were taped, and these have now been transcribed to Real Audio and podcast (mp3) formats. Shalom Place expresses gratitude to Rev. Gardner for permission to publish he presentation and interactions.
